SunBox: How to Turn Delivery into a Celebration

SunBox is a sushi and roll delivery service aimed at an audience that values not only taste but also the aesthetics and emotions of food.
The sushi delivery market is flooded with similar offerings with a predictable 'Japanese' aesthetic (hieroglyphs, dragons, red-and-black palette). It was necessary to create a brand that would break out of this clutter. The task was to develop an identity that would shift the focus from just 'food' to a 'special moment,' positioning a sushi order not as a routine purchase, but as a small gift to oneself or loved ones.
We started from the insight that the best dinner is one that brings joy and a sense of celebration. Thus, the key brand idea was born: 'SunBox—sushi as a gift.'
The logo is based on the metaphor of a gift box. We stylized the name 'SunBox,' turning it into a recognizable symbol. The letter 'U' in the word 'Sun' became an elegant bow, instantly readable as an attribute of a gift. The typography, built on soft, rounded forms, supports the friendly and positive character of the brand.
Instead of the expected colors, we chose a bold and fresh combination of deep blue (Very Peri—the Pantone color of the year at the time of development) and bright, sunny lime. This palette creates a sense of modernity, energy, and premium quality, effectively distinguishing the brand from competitors.
The idea of a gift was revealed in all elements of the identity. The packaging became not just a container for food, but a full-fledged gift box. We developed a signature pattern reminiscent of traditional Japanese 'seigaiha' waves, which adds sophistication to the packaging. Every detail, from branded thermal bags to a small card with the inscription 'A chain of pleasant events begins with this box,' works to create a feeling of celebration and care.
SunBox received a strong and emotionally charged identity that completely changed the brand's perception. The 'sushi as a gift' positioning allowed it to stand out from competitors and attract a new, more loyal audience. The bright and modern corporate style made the brand noticeable and recognizable at all points of contact—from the icon in the delivery app to the courier's uniform, turning every order into a long-awaited and pleasant event.
